Warrenpoint Art Group is showcasing its latest exhibition at Newry Library from now to 5 September. An Artist Meet & Greet will take place this Saturday 22 August at 3pm, giving the public the chance to meet some of the artists and view the work on display.
Artists taking part include Sanda Baretic, Colette Gabriel, Catherine Irwin, Aoife Kidirov, Pauline McPolin, Sheila Mitchell, Patricia Moore, Susan O'Keefe, Sarah O'Prey and Una Rooney.
Many of the group's members have been creating new work especially for the exhibition, meaning visitors can expect a range of fresh and original pieces alongside work from existing collections. The group said it would love for people to come along, support the artists, discover something new and enjoy the variety of work on show.
Warrenpoint Art Group was established in September 2019, when founding members set out their vision for an art group in the town and began putting plans into place. The idea was for a group of like-minded artists to support one another while developing their individual and unique skills through meetings, workshops and exhibitions.
Since then, the group has evolved, welcoming and supporting members to share knowledge, learn and develop, whatever their skill level, background or chosen creative medium. It aims to provide a platform for many forms of visual art, not just painting, while encouraging experimentation and enjoyment of the creative process.
Over the past six years, the group has held exhibitions and events in many venues including Warrenpoint Library, Church Lane Coffee Shop, the Bandstand in Warrenpoint Municipal Park and the Pavilion. The group is delighted to now have the opportunity to display its work in Newry Library.
