Newry recycling company Re-Gen has been named Best Charity Team, sponsored by Newry Credit Union, at the recent 2024 Newry Chamber of Commerce Employee & Teams Awards.
The judging panel said the accolade was in recognition of the company’s extensive work across multiple local national and international charities which has led to donations totalling nearly £1 million since 2005.
Just some of Re-Gen’s most recent work includes continued support for Daisy Lodge, the therapeutic centre for families affected by Cancer based in Newcastle, County Down; the East African charity Fields of Life and contribution toward the drilling of a borehole for a community in Uganda; and continued support for Air Ambulance NI, the rapid response emergency service.
Joseph Doherty, Chief Executive of Re-Gen, said: “We are thrilled to have picked up such a prestigious award amidst such stiff competition. At the heart of our business sits a deep care and consideration for the community in which we work and live and further afield, so we have always placed significant importance on our charity work.
“We engage actively with the communities we support, fostering relationships and ensuring that our contributions create lasting, positive impacts locally, nationally and internationally. This award is in recognition of the great charity work we do on a daily basis and, of course, the brilliant organisations we work with.”
Re-Gen employs over 350 people at its base in Newry. They efficiently sort household waste, maximising recycling to support the local circular economy and significantly reducing landfill waste.
