The Hiking Hen are raising funds to help fund a vaccine which gives hope for a longer life for Luke Johnston, son-in-law of one of their group. An amazing £79,000 has been raised by a Just Giving page to date.
They are hosting a Luke's Loop walk on Sunday 24 September on The Fallow Line, a newly opened route exploring the beauty of the Mournes between Hilltown and Rostrevor.
Entry fee is £20 and you can register by 23 September by messaging Hiking Hens Facebook or Instagram pages.
Luke was just married last August and was diagnosed in early March 2023 with an incurable brain tumour. There is some hope to have Luke's quality of life improved and extended, with new treatment that has been trialled and tested but
it's not available on NHS yet. It costs £150,000. The Hiking Hens are asking you to join with them and together we can all help this young couple.
After the walk there is an after party in The Old Killowen Bar, Rostrevor.
