Write a commentNewly formed St Monica’s Boxing Club, Newry has a new All Ireland Champion after boxer Conor Wallace won the All Ireland Intermediate title in 75kg category at the Irish Amateur Boxing Association’s, National Intermediate Finals on Halloween night in the National Stadium.
Coached by Owen Murphy, Conor fought against Wexford opponent Eddie Byrne of Na Fíanna Boxing Club in the final, winning 2-1!
Twenty two boxers lined out for the 75kg category and in the lead up to the final Conor beat David Bicevis, St Saviours Olympic Boxing Academy, Dublin 3-0, Noel Sommers, Palmerstown 3-0, James Daly, St Annes, Westport 3-0 and John G Lawrence, Eagle Boxing Club, Westport 3-0.
It was certainly a busy week for the club with Tara Gray, Paddy Reilly and Guy Wallace, all Armaghdown Open Championship winners at Banbridge.
