St John Bosco GACSt John Bosco Seniors

Ballymartin 0-5 St John Bosco 2-6

The seniors bounced back from the disappointment of dropping a point the previous week in the best possible way on Friday night when they beat Ballymartin by 7 points.

The weather resembled a January, rather than a June night, with high winds and lashing rain throughout the game and having played with the elements in the first half the boys went in at half time leading by 1-5 to 0-2. Things weren't looking good when Ballymartin scored the first 3 points of the second half to really put the pressure on. However, our boys have a never say die attitude and scored a goal and point in the middle of the half to go 7 points clear. At this stage you would have thought the game was over but Ballymartin had other ideas and piled on the pressure to the end but the Bosco lads defended superbly to win again and go back to the top of the division 2 league table.

Credit to all the players and our small but loyal band of supporters but the man of the match award this week must go to our chairman Joe Ryan for doing umpire at the bottom goals, overlooking the Irish Sea, with the wind and rain blowing in his face all night.....well done Joe.

The seniors have no game next week.....next game is away to St John's on Friday 21st June at 7.30

St John Bosco U14s

Wednesday last saw the return local derby when Bosco travelled to Derryleckagh to play Mitchels.  Unfortunately Mitchels preferred to leave players on the line by insisting on 13 a side which meant Bosco were left with 8 players on the bench.

This tactic appeared to work for them as Mitchels took an early lead with the first two points of the game.  Once Bosco got into their stride however they soon took control of the game. Dominant in most sectors, with Shane Mc Clorey exceptional at half back and Ryan Mc Aleavey a constant threat at half forward, Bosco took the lead through points from James Harkin, Kane Rossiter, Bill Finnegan and Dean Morgan.  When Ryan Mc Aleavey netted it looked like one way traffic.  Worryingly though Bosco went off the boil and squandered a lot of easy chances.  Allied to this two fortuitous goals for Mitchels left only two points in it at half time, Bosco 1-08 to Mitchels 2-03.

Bosco upped the ante in the second half with further points from James Harkin(2), Dean Morgan, and Rory Mc Parland.  Mitchels to their credit hung in there with a further two goals but Bosco had the superior team play and never panicked.  With a goal from Kane Rossiter and points from Ruairi Lavery and Ryan Mc Aleavey Bosco established an unassailable lead.  Despite making hard work of it Bosco ran out deserving winners with a final score-line of Bosco 3-14 to Mitchels 4-05
