Battle of the Boyne - Part Two!

Local Newry Boxer Patrick Murphy who has been living in Australia this past four years will headline a spectacular night of boxing in Dundalk on the 12th of July which marks his first professional fight on home turf.

Patrick who started his Professional Boxing career in Australia under the name "Irish Paddy Murphy" has won the Australian and Asian titles at Light Welter Weight level.

Patrick's opponent was to be Dundalk man Michael Kelly but speaking at todays press launch at the Canal Court Hotel Harry McGavock indicated that this might not happen now and a Plan B may need to be put in place.

The promoters have offered Michael another 24 Hours to make his decision clear and if it turns out negative it appears that Patrick will be in the ring against Galway native Peter McDonagh who won his fight last Saturday night in Kent against Liam Griffiths.

The replacement clash would have the potential to be even harder scrap fought out over ten rounds.

Supporting the main ticket will be Eamon O'Kane v Anthony Fitzgerald for the Irish Light Middleweight title. Hugh Fury will take on Darren Corbett. Also on the bill Jamie Kennedy will box against Brandon Peak.

Steve Collins Jnr, Jamie Conlan and Philip Sutcliffe Jnr will also be on the fight list against opponents to be named.

The event is being promoted by Cuchulainn Promotions in association with Hughes Promotions and takes place in the Fairways Hotel, Dundalk. Doors 6pm for Show 7pm sharp.
