The Ulster Hockey Union through their Talent Development Officer Shirley McCay ran a Hockey Development Programme recently for talented players from the Newry and Mourne area.
Players from all the clubs in the area were picked for a five week programme that took place at Newry Olympic Hockey Club.
Mayor Daire Hughes who visited the Hockey Club paid tribute to all involved and stated that he was delighted that the Council helped to promote this opportunity to grow and develop the sport.
The Mayor handed out hockey balls for all participants and wished them a great future in their sporting endeavours.
