Write a commentLisdrum Youth FC have won the Under 14 firmus energy League Cup Final at the weekend after beating Rathfriland Youth 2-0.
The Finals took place at Lurgan Town Arena and 12 teams pitted their wits against each other to try and win their respective League Cups. Lisdrum and Rathfriland were the only two local teams.
The U14 final was a very even game in the first half until two minutes to go when Lisdrum took the lead. More of the same followed in the second half but the front three proved too much for Rathfriland and they added a second to win the game 2-0.
Angeline Murphy, from firmus energy said: “This was a fantastic day for football supporters with six thrilling matches which kept spectators glued to the action right to the very end. On behalf of the organisers and firmus energy, we would like to thank everyone at the Lurgan Town pitches who were fantastic on the day. The facilities ensured that we were able to play three finals side-by-side which allowed everyone the chance to follow all the action and they worked tirelessly to produce hot food and drinks for hungry competitors and spectators. Congratulations to all those who took part and all the coaching staff, referees and parents who put in so much time and effort week after week.”
