Newry AC are well warmed up for the summer running season. Athletes were competing at all levels from Irish Nationals, local track meets, Road Racing, Parkrun to Triathlons.
Tuesday 22nd - ANI Open Meet, Mary Peters Track Belfast
Hughie Mackin, John McCaffrey and Lee Maginnis travelled to Belfast for their latest track event.
Lee Maginnis ran the 800m taking a time of 2:13:89 with Hughie Mackin in the same race and following through with a finish time of 2:16:64. John McCaffrey determined to beat his recent performances was rewarded with a time in the 1,500m of 4:51:15.
Wednesday 23rd - Bann 10k, Banbridge
Ciara Coffey took to the roads of Banbridge for the annual undulating Bann 10k. On a very warm evening Ciara added to her collection of podium placings and finished strong with 2nd Female in a time of 40:43.
Thursday 24th - Drogheda Graded Series Meet
4 Newry AC female athletes travelled to Drogheda for the Summer Series Meet. In the 200m the times taken were 29:62 for Clodagh Doran, 29:89 for Anna Fegan, 30:41 for Sarah Jane Beattie and 31:98 for Grace Hamilton. In the 1,500m, Sarah Jane Beattie completed in 5:33:99 with Anna Fegan finishing with 5:46:14.

Thursday 24th - Hill & Dales Series - Moughanmore
Newry AC athletes took to this challenging course and continued to produce great results.
Warren Cartmill came in 25th place with a time of 38:17 lifting 2nd MV45. Esther Dickson was right behind him in 26th in a time of 38:24 and took the 1st Female title. The next two followed in pursuit of them with Paul Le Blanc in 32nd in a time of 39:02 and 3rd MV55 and Maurice Harte in 34th in a time of 39:10 and 5th MV40. Rory Mulvaney followed in a time of 42:14 18th MO, Junior David Burns 53:50 5th MJ and Coach Kookie O’Hagan completed 64:42 5th MV60.
Saturday 26th - Rostrevor Parkrun
4 Newry AC athletes took part in this challenging Parkrun which is a great course for training in the beautiful setting of Kilbroney Forest Park.

Young Ethan Patterson flew in 2nd, making the hills look easy in a time of 19:35. Sarah Jane Beattie came in at 23:28 with Martin Patterson nearly catching her with a time of 23:36 and and young Newry athlete and 3rd Patterson family member, Pierce, completed the course in 27:03.
Saturday 26th - Irish Life Health National Combined Events Championships - Morton Stadium, Santry, Dublin.
Joanne McCauley lifted another Irish National Podium place this season for Newry AC bringing home a Bronze Medal in a very competitive and tough Masters Category.
This Combined Event was a challenging Pentathlon in the heat with the events of 80m Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Putt & 800m.
Joanne left the mountains & trails behind this season to focus on Track & Field Training and the commitment is now paying back.
Meadow McCauley also competed in the U16s Category. A highly competitive age group - Meadow competed hard to be rewarded with a 5th place.
Sunday 27th - Blackrock Triathlon
Sarah Jane Beattie in her 3rd event of the week completed Blackrock Triathlon in a time of 60:06 and lifted 1st in her age category.
Sunday 27th - Newry City Merchants Half Marathon
Just under 600 athletes took on this 13.1 mile event and this included new Newry AC member, Mark Malone. Mark blasted home in a fantastic time of 1:19:42 and finished 7th place. A brilliant top ten result for Mark.
