Thursday 31st May - Drogheda & District Graded Track Meet
On a warm but windy evening, 4 Newry AC athletes (Lee Maginnus, Sarah Jane Beattie, Joanne McCauley & Meadow McCauley) travelled to the Lourdes Stadium in Drogheda.
The 800m was entered by Lee Maginnis completing in 2.15.04; Meadow McCauley ran a very calm and controlled race and kept close in the leading pack to be rewarded with a new PB of 2.27.84; Sarah Jane Beatie followed through strongly in 2.38.68.

Joanne McCauley competed in the 100m Race (Wind: -1.0 m/s) with a time of 14:93. She also took on the High Jump clearing 1.30m.
The 3 ladies also competed in the Long Jump with the finishing distances of Meadow McCauley 4.10, Joanne McCauley 3.93 & Sarah Jane Beattie 3.91.

Thursday 31st May - Hill & Dales - Millstone
Six Newry AC athletes attended the Millstone race in warm and humid conditions.
Esther Dickson was out to maintain her series lead and retain her 2017 title. Esther confidently completed the race taking 1st Female and 18th overall with a time of 43:32. Her team mates followed in hot pursuit with Maurice Harte in 20th with a time of 44:02 and 3rd MV40; Paul Le Blanc was 31st with 45:22 and 2nd MV55; 35th was Warren Cartmill with 45:55 and 2nd MV45; 42nd was Rory Mulvaney with 46:24 and Coach Kookie O’Hagan coming in at 79:27.
A great night of racing with the series nearing closure and Newry AC sitting competitive in many of the age categories.
Saturday 2nd June - Rostrevor Parkrun
Father and son team and regulars to this course - Martin and Ethan Patterson took on Kilbroney Park this week in very warm and humid conditions. Ethan ran consistently to complete in 19:50 and taking 3rd place. Dad, Martin blasted round the route and was rewarded with a new PB of 22:58.
Saturday 2nd June - Irish Mountain Running Championships - Carrauntoohil, County Kerry.
In a race not for the faint hearted - with a difficulty level rating of Extreme, Newry AC’s Cathal McGreevy took the challenge. Cathal came through strong and completed the race well up in the rankings. Carrauntoohil is the highest peak in the island of Ireland and is the central peak of the Macgillycuddy Peak Range. The race had 1,137 metres of very technical ascent and a distance of 12.5km.
Saturday 2nd June - Camp China, California
Across the pond in California, Ronan Mynes took up on a tough Half Marathon Trail Race challenge in the State Park of Camp China.
Camp China challenged Ronan to an extensive trail network with views of Mt. Tam, San Pablo Bay, and San Francisco Bay climbing up and over the peak and winding along thick forests until descending again to open trails on the San Pablo Bay side of the park.
In temperatures of 25 degrees at 9am, Ronan impressed finishing 27th overall and coming in 4th MV50.
