Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said, “Congratulations to all of the competitors who participated in the World Tae Kwon Do Championships. It truly was a magnificent achievement to come home with a grand total of 40 medals, 9 gold, 13 silver and 18 bronze. Success doesn’t come easily. It takes a lot of hard work and determination to win your way to a world championship title and you have all proved that you have the ability to be world champions.”
Councillor Fitzpatrick continued, “It would be remiss of me not to pay tribute to your coaches, especially Cathal Fegan who has put in many hours to ensure your success. All of you have been great ambassadors for the Newry, Mourne and Down District; you have helped raise our profile throughout the Island of Ireland. You are a credit to your families, your Club and to the entire community and I have no doubt that Cathal Fegan’s School of Tae Kwon Do will continue to go from strength to strength”
