Are Ye Dancing? - Get on down to the Céili at the Crossroads this weekend

It's time to get those dancing feet into action and "Step Out" at Camlough's Céili at the Crossroads hosted by Camlough Heritage Society.

Camlough has always been a great spot for the music, dancing, storytelling and craic. In fact dancing and the village are like hand and glove, as from the early 1900s organised dancing has taken place in the District and has been a great source of enjoyment for generations.

Indeed it is often said that many’s a couple started stepping out after meeting at the Céilí at Camloch Cross townland.

Musicians from the renowned Traditional Arts Partnership (TAP) the excellent “Raglan” Band and acts from far and wide will entertain regulars and visitors throughout the village on Friday (13th July)  night from 9pm.

On Saturday (14th July) night there is a Céilí at the Crossroads out on the Main Street. It will run from 8pm until 11pm and all young, old and “in between” are welcome to attend. Raymond Carroll and dancers favourite the “Reel Time” Céilí Band will be keeping us all in full swing throughout the evening.

For those looking an alternative angle to our Céilí Weekend hosted by the Camloch Heritage Society supported by the Ring of Gullion Landscape Partnership Scheme there are “junior” and “senior” Dance Fit classes. These will be held in Doyles Walled Garden in the village. Junior session is from 3-4pm whilst the seniors event is from 4-5pm. Admission is free.

As local man Pat McGinn says "There will be a feast of musical talent on show in all corners of the village which many say the “devil” himself can’t get into because all road access to the village runs across water and it is known that the Devil can’t cross water (Some might argue the Devil can’t get out of the village because of this!)"

All are welcome to attend and enjoy the music, dance and song. There will be light refreshments available on the street and people are also encouraged to visit the villages renowned Bars, Restaurants, Shops and Cafes. There’ll be a grand céad míle fáilte /  welcome for all,
