Write a commentThe Friends of Derrymore, National Trust, along with Newry and Mourne District Council invite you to an event on Wednesday 25th March 2015 at 7.30pm in Bessbrook Community Centre to consider how the asset of Derrymore House & Estate can be developed & enhanced for the recreational benefit & enjoyment of the local community.
Derrymore House which dates back to circa 1776-1787 is described as a gentleman’s residence, surrounded by a demesne of 110 acres, which includes a walled garden and a modified Early Christian period Ring Fort which was later adopted as a garden feature.

Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Cllr Daire Hughes highlighted the significance of this event for shaping the future of Derrymore Demense “I encourage all local residents, schools, businesses and groups to attend this open consultation event on Wednesday 25th March at 7.30pm in Bessbrook Community Centre, where a short talk & presentation on the history of the house and grounds will be provided, followed by a facilitated discussion on proposals for future developments and activities which can make better use of the Derrymore Estate for the local community”.
