Compensation for loss of husband

Frontier Sentinel 23/10/1915

Mr. O'Hare (Messrs. O'Hare and O'Hagan) applied on behalf of Mrs. Bridget Murphy, of 28 King Street, Newry,

to have a sum of £300 compensation lodged in court paid out to her in respect of the loss of her husband in France in June last. The nominal respondents were the owners of the ss Rostrevor. The applicant, in the course of her examination, gave way to tears, and said she would rather have her husband back than the money.

His Honour sympathised with the applicant and in declaring her the sole dependant, directed that £20 should be paid out immediately, and the remainder in quarterly instalments, the applicant to apply and obtain the remainder should she decide on starting in some business.
