Newry Wheelers Cormac Clarke & Gareth McCullough & Sean Featherstone took part in the in the John Beggs Memorial race at the weekend.

The race took place on a new course (75Miles) which still had the Banbridge stamp of toughness. Banbridge CC had pulled out all the stops to enable this event to go ahead as last minute road works closed down their usual course.
The new course included some tough climbs and fast descents. Cormac Clarke was in the early break along with many top class riders such as Javan Nulty and Mark Downling (Dunboyne), Thomas Martin (Eurocycles), Jack Wilson (An Post), Rory Devlin (North Pole CC), Gary Cranston (East Antrim Audi), James McMaster (Curran Racing) and Leo McAllister (Chain Reaction Cycles)
Cormac & Gareth McCullough made the final selection finishing in 4th & 5th place respectively. Cormac went on to repeat the result the following day in the Connor Combes Race in Drogheda and moves him into top fifteen riders in the country racing the domestic calendar.
Also showing continuing strong form, Newry Wheelers Alwynne Shannon flew the flag in the women’s race
