It’s over a year since I’ve had a good moan and I feel so much better for it, but sure it’s time to get back to the old ways and I feel after today that I just need a good moan and I'm going to moan about people moaning.

What started this of you might ask. Am I not the self proclaimed king of the moaners?

Well …  the nice people at newry.ie put up a post on Facebook today about the new colour scheme on Canal Street in Newry and boy did that get people talking.

Over a hundred people commented and you guessed it, many of them had a good moan about the bright colours, and of course as I know it helps to get it off your chest, but surely a nice colourful street beats the grayscape we were left with for quite a few years now.

The houses do indeed need replaced and this is in the pipeline but the future developers have had a couple of hurdles to overcome so it’s anyones guess when this will eventually happen.

I might moan about many things but bright colours aren’t one of them. Sure life can be dull enough at times without picking up more dull vibes from my daily walk down the street with the poodle.

From now on both Growler and my own spirits will be lifted as we risk life and limb crossing the road at the traffic lights (What ever happened to the beeping noise made when it was safe to cross the road?)

One wag pointed out that Newry was just copying what they do to Brazilian slums, another thought too many sample pots were used, another the council was wasting their money, another saying it will be handy for intoxicated people finding their way home out of the town. OH dear I feel a migraine coming on -  and it’s NOT the bright colours.

Our entire Nark household can’t actually find anything to moan about this colour up at all for a change.

One person even has obviously spent hours filling each home with who they think would be appropriate including a Chinese in the first one with next door the orange lodge, then the pink oyster gay bar, then the police station next to the Sinn Fein office then the brothel at the lights. Welcome to Newry indeed - Well it certainly would be colourful!
