Culture Night - The Trial of the man who shot Darcy Magee at the Catholic Working Mans Club. Photograph: Columba O'HareNewry's first ever Culture night couldn't have happened on a better night, a beautiful calm evening, a full moon and plenty of variety where entertainment was concerned.

Marcus Square was the hub of the nights activity with Blacksmith skills on show from Ballinliss Forge, Camlough; Painting and Pottery Demonstrations, performances from Sheridan Gospel Choir, Warrenpoint Comhaltas and many more.

At other locations around the city, the man who shot Darcy Magee (or did he?) was on trial at the Catholic Workingman's Club, the NRC Centre on Hill Street had a Karaoke night and Maya Cafe on Monaghan Street had a Mexican themed night of food and recitations.

Live music was the order of the day elsewhere with Mickey Doran on the strings in Cahill Brothers and live bands in Grounded and Amplified.

For a first attempt very well done to all and we look forward to a bigger and better one next year.
