A claim for a fall - Some things never change!

Frontier Sentinel 23/10/1915

Wm White, Canal Street, Newry, applied to recover compensation from the Great Northern Railway Company for injuries sustained at Edward Street Railway Station, Newry on the 8th February last. Liability was admitted.

The applicant it was admitted was engaged as a porter, and whilst carrying a bag he fell, injuring his thigh and hip, resulting in total incapacity.

Mr Cusack, who appeared for the Company, said that the man was tuberculosis, and the accident with which he met resulted in incapacity. The Company did not know when he was engaged that he suffered from tuberculosis, and he was now in hospital.

His Honour allowed 9s a week compensation. Mr Fisher was for the applicant, and Mr. Cusack B.L. (instructed by Messrs R.A. Mullen and Son), defended.
