A 59 year old man has been arrested in Newry and taken to Antrim Police Station for questioning by Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of Eamon Collins in Newry over 15 years ago.
He was detained in the city this afternoon and a house has been searched.
Eamon Collins was knocked down, beaten and stabbed while out walking his dogs on 27 January 1999 in the Dorans Hill area of the city less than a mile from his Barcroft home.

Police in E District have uncovered a cannabis factory and seized a quantity of drugs as Operation Torus is launched across Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon and Newry and Mourne.
Operation Torus targets street level drug dealers and was launched to coincide with the province wide 'Drug dealers don't care, do you?' multi-agency campaign.
Over the coming weeks, police in E District will actively target those believed to be involved in the use or supply of drugs.
E District Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Wright, said: "Tackling drugs has always been a priority for us in E District and Op Torus allows us to concentrate our resources and focus more interest on this area of crime.
"Op Torus was launched on Tuesday, 25 February, and already officers from E District's Tactical Crime Team have uncovered a cannabis factory in Portadown and seized a quantity of drugs in Kilkeel. This demonstrates exactly what we can do when the community works with us and brings information to us about criminal activity in their area.
"Over the coming weeks we will continue to disrupt and arrest drug dealers involved in the sale and supply of drugs and work to bring individuals before the courts. We are asking everyone for their support and co-operation in tackling this problem through the criminal justice system.
"It is also worth pointing out, that we are sensitive to community concerns around the use of so-called ‘legal highs’, particularly among young people. It is suspected that substances touted as 'legal highs' do contain dangerous substances which are harmful to human health. We are working with local communities, councils and health authorities to ensure that any substance which could pose a risk to the health of our young people is taken off the streets.
"To any young person or adult who is tempted to experiment with mind altering substance - legal or illegal - you can never be sure of exactly what you are taking or what side effects or long term damage it could cause. Don't put yourself in danger - stop and think abuot what one moment of recklessness might mean.

Police in E District have recovered a quantity of drugs following searches in Kilkeel and Newry.
As part of Operation Torus, targeting street level drug dealing, officers conducted searches at a number of houses in Kilkeel and Newry.
Five grammes of herbal cannabis, three grammes of cannabis resin and four grammes of cocaine were seized along with paraphernalia linked to the distribution of drugs.
Enquiries are ongoing.

Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following a tiger kidnapping in the South Down area.
Around 8.30pm on Sunday, 2 March, a number of males forced entry to a house in Smalls Road, Warrenpoint. A 57 year old female was ordered to visit a jewellery shop in Warrenpoint and retrieve a number of items. A 53 year old male and 20 year old female were held captive during this time and all three victims were abandoned in a field in the Mayobridge area.
The kidnappers made off from the area in an unknown vehicle.
The family have been left shaken and distressed by their ordeal.
Detectives are appealing to anyone in the Warrenpoint/Burren and Mayobridge areas who noticed any type of suspicious activity, including cars or vehicles activing in a suspicious way, between 7.30pm and 10pm to contact them immediately at Ardmore Police Station on 0845 600 8000. Police in Newry are appealing for information following the report of an attack on a vulnerable male on the evening of Friday 28th February.
The male is believed to have been making his way home along Canal Street when he was assaulted.
The exact time and location of the assault is not clear at this stage.
The male suffered bruising to his left eye and a suspected broken nose.

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the attempted murder and serious sexual assault of an eight year old girl in Newry in 1994 have again reissued their appeal for information.
The girl was playing with a friend close to Barcroft Community Centre on 10 June 1994 when she was approached by an unknown male aged in his late teens or early twenties. He separated her from her friend and took her to an area of woodland within Daisy Hill Nursery where he assaulted her.
Following extensive enquiries police now believe that the assailant approached and spoke to two young male children who were playing within the community centre grounds, prior to his attack on the girl. Detectives are keen to identify and speak to these two males who would now be aged in their 20s or 30s.
Police are also keen to identify and speak to a man and woman who were walking in the Daisy Hill Nursery area during the early evening of 10 June, 1994. Detectives believe this couple may have been approached by a young boy who was distressed and asked for directions to Barcroft Comunity Centre.
Detectives are keen to take this investigation forward and are appealing to the two young male children and the couple to contact them at the earliest opportunity on 028 3836 6274. Police in Newry are appealing for information following an assault in Aileen Terrace during the early hours of Sunday, 2 March.
Some time between 1am and 3am two males, aged 21 and 22 years old were assaulted by a group of males. One of the victims had his two front teeth broken and both sustained bruises.,
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault or has information in relation to this incident to contact them in Ardmore.
Police in Newry are appealing for information after a report of vehicle theft at the Belfast Road area on Monday the 24th of February.
Shortly before 11:40am, it was reported that a 2006 model Blue Honda Accord With was stolen at a car dealership in the area. A male suspect in his late 30s, early 40s is described as being involved. One male who was in the car during the incident, was removed from the vehicle at the Fiveways area. The man is not believed to have been injured. As the vehicle left the area, it was reported that a police vehicle was struck. An officer who was in the area at the time of the incident is believed to have been struck, as the vehicle made off towards the Old Dublin Road area. The Blue Honda Accord may have frontal damage as a result of this collision.
Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the incident , who has any information regarding the current whereabouts of the 2006 Blue Honda Accord, or who saw anything suspicious in the Belfast Road area shortly before 11:40am to contact police.
Police in Newry continue to appeal for information following a number of criminal damage incidents which occurred sometime between 5pm on Friday 24th January and 9am on Tuesday 28th January in the Mary Street and Lower Water Street areas. A total of nineteen pay and display machines were damaged and police are appealing to anyone who was in the area and who may have witnessed this damage being caused to contact them.
Police in Newry are appealing for information after a report of arson at the First Avenue area on the evening of Friday 28th February.
At around 11:20pm, it was reported that a silver Citreon Xsara was set on fire in the area. No one is believed to have been injured during the incident and enquiries are continuing.

Police in Newry are appealing for information after a report of criminal damage and theft at the Dublin Road area on Friday 7th March
Sometime between Midnight and 7am, it was reported that a van was damaged in the area. Two pairs of sunglasses and a quantity of tools were stolen, as entry was gained after both the nearside door and rearside door windows were broken.
Police are also investigating a possible link between a similar incident at the Courtney Hill, Newry area overnight on Friday 7th March. It is believed that a number of items were stolen from a van parked in the area. Entry is again believed to have been gained by a side window of the vehicle being damaged.
Enquiries are continuing.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary at business premises on Hilltown Road.
Around midnight on Friday, 21 February, entry was gained to fuel supplier premises. A sum of cash was taken and it is believed the burglars made off across Hilltown Road and onto an adjoining road.
Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to this incident to contact them.
Police in Newry are reminding the public of the dangers of throwing stones at vehicles following an incident on Carnagat Road.
Around 1.45pm on Sunday, 9 March, stones were thrown from Derrybeg bus shelter at a bus travelling along the road. The driver's cab window was smashed, showering the female bus driver in glass.
Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to this incident to contact them. They are particularly keen to identify two males, aged between 14 and 16 years old who were seen in the shelter. One of the males was wearing a red hoody. Anyone with information can contact police in Newry.
Police are also asking parents to speak to their children about the dangers of becoming involved in this type of activity. Not only could you end up facing charges of criminal damage, you could also be responsible for seriously injuring or even killing a driver or passenger.
Police in Newry are appealing for information following a creeper burglary in Laurel Hill.
Some time overnight between Sunday, 9 March and Monday, 10 March entry was forced to the rear of a house. The house was ransacked and a sum of cash in £1 coins taken. Car keys were also taken and a red Toyota Rav 4 was subsequently stolen from the property.
This vehicle was later located at Carnegat Cottages and was observed in the area around 11.30pm on Sunday, 9 March.
Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to this incident to contact them.
They would particularly like to hear from any business who is offered a large number of £1 coins as tender or to be changed into notes or anyone who noticed any activity in these areas during this time.

Local police have made several Drug related arrests in this past two weeks as part of their Operation Torus clampdown.
Following a search at residential premises in the First Avenue area of Newry on the afternoon of Friday 28 February where a quantity of suspected drugs were seized. Officers from E District's Tactical Crime Unit have arrested a 32 year old man on suspicion of possession of a class B controlled drug, possession of a class A controlled drug, possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply and possession of a class A controlled drug with intent to supply. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Police also recovered 72 cannabis plants during the search of a house in the Seaview Heights area of Newry on Tuesday the 4th of March.
A 34 year old was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and possession of Class B drugs.
He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Officers from E District Tactical Crime Unit have charged a 25 year old male with drugs offences.
Police seized five cannabis plants during the search of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 5 March.
A 25 year old man was charged with cultivating cannabis and will appear before Newry Magistrates' Court on 2 April, 2014. As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
Officers have also seized a large quantity of suspected Class C drugs following searches of a property in the St Clares Avenue area of Newry on the 5th of March.
A vehicle and a quantity of drugs including prescription drugs and steroids were seized.
A 41 year old male was arrested for possession of criminal property, and possession of Class C drugs with intent to supply. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an assault on High Street earlier in March.
Around 1.45am on Friday, 7 March, a 66 year old man was assaulted by two males. He was punched to the face and knocked to the ground and the assailants took a sum of cash from his pocket.

Purse thefts from Supermarket shoppers in Banbridge and Newry last Friday are thought to be connected.
Police in Newry and Banbridge are appealing for information after two incidents.
On Friday morning, 14 March, a 74 year old female was shopping in supermarket premises in The Quays, Newry, when she was approached by a young, foreign male who engaged her in conversation. The female later discovered her purse had been taken from her bag. The purse contained a bank card and an attempt was made to use the card later in the morning in the Banbridge area.
Later in the morning, a 91 year old female was shopping in a supermarket on Castlewellan Road, Banbridge, when she was distracted by a male. It is believed a female may have taken the lady's purse from her handbag in the trolley.
The male is described as dark skinned, in his 20s, of medium build and was wearing dark clothes.
It is believed the male and female may have been travelling in a green Mercedes C200 Sport Auto.
Police are looking at a link between the two incidents and are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to either theft to contact them in Newry or Banbridge on 0845 600 8000, quoting ref: 421140314 or 471140314.
