Police in Newry have arrested a man following a road traffic collision on Tuesday, 1st of July.
Police were on patrol on Kellys Road, Newry, when they signalled a blue Volkswagen Bora to stop. The vehicle attempted to make off from police and collided with a police vehicle before driving off. Two police officers sustained minor injuries.
Following an investigation, police arrested a 23 year old man in the Bridge Street area of Newry on Wednesday, 9 July. A small quantity of Class A and B drugs were found during a subsequent search. The man was arrested for failing to stop, failing to report, failing to remain, dangerous driving, disqualified driving, no insurance and possession of Class A and B drugs.
He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following the report of a car on fire in the Ardcarne Park area at around 6am on the morning of Wednesday 9th July.
The silver/blue coloured Volkswagon Passat, which was stolen from a house in the Green Road area of Bessbrook as a result of a creeper style burglary earlier that morning, is believed to have been deliberately set alight. A sum of money was taken from the house also.
Police would ask anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the Green Road area of Bessbrook or Ardcarne Park area of Newry on the evening of Tuesday 8th or Wednesday 9th July to contact them at Ardmore station on the non emergency number 101 quoting reference 176090714. Arson is suspected following a fire in the early hours of Friday morning at flats in the Talbot Street area of Newry.
Three men escaped from the property but one of the men requiring hospital treatment for smoke inhalation.
It is believed that two fires were started in communal areas of the building which contains three flats at around 1.30am.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, which left extensive smoke and scorch damage to the property. Police are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact CID in Newry on the non emergency number 101 quoting reference number 78180714.

Four PSNI Officers were injured last night following several incidents involving a silver BMW in the Flagstaff and Killean areas resulting in a 27 year old man being arrested on suspicion of motoring offences and assault on police.
Police on patrol in the Ferryhill Road area at around 7.30pm noted a silver BMW doing 'donuts' in the middle of the road and indicated for the vehicle to stop. The driver however made off towards the police vehicle at speed, ramming the car as he did so.
At around 10.10pm the silver BMW was spotted by another police patrol in the Kelly's Road area. The car reversed at high speed at a female officer, causing her to jump clear of the path of the car to avoid being struck.
The BMW was then detected at around 10.30pm at the rear of an address at Kelly's Road and the arrested male was detained after he confronted police and attempted to assault officers at the same location.
The BMW has now been seized for examination.
Three officers, two male and one female, were treated in hospital for head and leg injuries following the first collision with the police vehicle. The female officer involved in the second incident also reported some minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers are also investigating a number of other reports of vehicles, possibly including a silver BMW, driving erratically in a number of areas at the border area last night.

A man was found with stab injuries shortly before 3am this morning in the Carnagh Park area of Newry.
The 27 year old man sustained stab injuries to his chest and was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.
A 57 year old man arrested in relation to the incident was also treated for stab injuries to his leg. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended the scene.
The 27 year old's condition is believed to be serious but stable.

At approximately 8pm last night a crowd of 8 or 9 persons called at an address in the area of Pound Street, Newry.
The address is the home of a young female and her 4 young children who are not originally from N Ireland.
The males who attended the house threatened the female and instructed her to leave the house.

Police in Newry are appealing for information after an officer was injured during a speed operation.
Officers were conducting a speed operation on Carnagat Road around 12.20pm on Monday, 21 July, when they observed a motorcycle approaching at speed.
A police officer held out his hand to signal the motorcyclist to stop but the bike continued, causing injury to the officer's arm.
The motorcycle was a large, white coloured sports bike with blue decals and made off into Martins Lane. Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to this incident to contact them at Ardmore Police Station on the 101 non-emergency number, quoting ref: 529210714.

A 57 year old man was charged with attempted murder following a report of an assault at residential premises at the Carnagh Park area, Newry in the early hours of Thursday morning.
He was charged to appear at Newry Magistrates Court on today Saturday 26th July. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

Police in Newry are appealing for information after a report of theft at the Glen Road area.
Sometime overnight on Sunday 24th August, it was reported that a number of items were stolen from a shed in the area. It is believed the items included a Ralley ride-on lawnmower and two adult Raleigh Talus bicycles. The items stolen has an estimated street value of approximately £3,000. Enquiries are continuing.
