Police in Newry are appealing for information following the attempted theft of a car.
Sergeant Colin Massey, Newry Neighbourhood Policing Team, explained: "Some time between 10.30pm on Sunday, 26 October and 8am on Monday, 27 October the driver's side door of a red Vauxhall Corsa, parked in Cleary Crescent, was pulled back in an attempt to gain access to the vehicle. The steering wheel was also damaged.
"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this damage being caused or has information in relation to this incident. You can contact us in Ardmore on 101, quoting ref: 202271014."

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an incident of criminal damage at Victoria Lock on the Omeath Road.
Sergeant Colin Massey, Newry NPT, explained: "Some time between 12.30pm and 10.45pm on Tuesday, 28 October, a blue BMW 320, parked in the car park at Victoria Lock was badly damaged. The front and rear windscreens and rear passenger door window were smashed and the wing mirror was taken off.

Following the theft of a collection box from St Catherine's Chuch in September local Police are appealing for information.
Con Mark McCartan, Newry Response, explained: "Around 8.35am on Sunday, 21 September, a large, brown, wooden collection box was taken from St Catherine's Church on Dominic Street.
A male wearing a dark jacket, entered the front hallway of the church during mass and ran off with the box, turning right towards Bridge Street. The box was emptied and later recovered at Drumalane.
"We would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this incident and can be contacted at Ardmore Police Station on the 101 number, quoting ref: 491210914."

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in Chestnut Grove in Newry.
Sergeant Colin Massey explained: "Sometime between 6.45pm and 9.45pm on Friday, 31 October, entry was gained to a house in Chestnut Grove. A small sum of cash was taken.
"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any activity around this area during this time or has information in relation to this incident to contact us on 101, quoting ref: 833011114."

Following recent incidents Police in Newry are urging residents to be vigilant of thefts from sheds.
E District Crime Prevention Officer Lisa Sherman, said: “We have noticed a number of thefts from sheds over the last few weeks.
“In one recent incident the shed of a house in Carnagat Park was broken into between Saturday, 8 November and Sunday, 9 November. A brushcutter and cultivator were taken.
“This is generally the time of year when we clear up our gardens and store away tools, equipment and garden furniture and ornaments and we want to help you make sure your garden is safe and your shed is secure.
“Try and protect vulnerable areas such as windows, fences, boundary walls and drainpipes and use well positioned external lighting to make your garden less inviting for thieves.
“Keep your shed in good condition. Fit a closed shackle padlock to the door. Fittings should be bolted through the door and any screws concealed. Fit meshes or grilles to the windows and invest in an alarm.
“Make sure that large items such as bicycles are chained together as it is much more difficult for a thief to carry away a lot of large items.
“Ladders should be locked to a secure fixture in the shed or garage so they cannot be used to access upstairs windows.

Following the assault of a 27 year old man in Monaghan Street in Newry Police have arrested and charged a man
The assault took place during the early hours of Monday, 3rd of November.
Constable Jill Browne explained: “A 27 year old man was assaulted by another male on 3 November. We conducted a number of enquiries and arrested a 26 year old man on Saturday, 8 November, on suspicion of Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
“He was later charged to appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court on 26 November. As is normal procedure the charge will be reviewed by the PPS.”

Police Enquiry Offices across E District will change their opening hours for the public from 1 January, 2015.
The decision to reduce opening hours at police stations across Northern Ireland was taken as part of PSNI’s efforts to deliver on required budget savings.
E District Commander, Chief Superintendent Pauline Shields said: “From 1 January, 2015 police stations in Armagh, Banbridge, Lurgan, Portadown and Newry, will open to the public from 8am to 8pm. We know that our peak period of footfall occurs between these times so we hope this change in opening hours will bring a minimum of inconvenience.
“This reduction in opening hours does not mean a reduction in service. There will be no change to the availability of police officers to respond to calls and the public will still be able to contact police at any time on the 101 number or 999 in an emergency.
“There is no doubt that policing is changing however our policing purpose remains the same – keeping people safe is still our priority and we will continue to do this by preventing harm, protecting the vulnerable and detecting offenders.”

An appeal has been made following an assault in early November at Daisy Hill Gardens.
Constable John Anderson explained: “Around 6pm on Thursday, 6 November, a 36 year old man was walking along Daisy Hill Gardens. As he approached the junction of Pound Road he bumped into a male who was with two others. This male assaulted the man who sustained injuries to face and head which required medical treatment.
“The assailant is described as being 5ft 8in tall, of slim build and was wearing a white cap.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following the burning of a car in Newry
Constable Philip Kelly explained: “Around 11.38pm on Wednesday, 26 November, we received a report of a car on fire at The Demesne. NIFRS attended and extinguished the fire.
“We believe this fire was deliberate and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed any activity around this area prior to the outbreak of the fire or has information in relation to this incident to contact us in Newry on 101, quoting ref: 1278261114.”
