Following the attempted hijacking of a car in Talbot Street in Newry on Friday night (20th February) Police are appealing for information.
Detective Sergeant Lisa McClure explained: “Around 8pm on Friday night, a black Insignia car pulled up outside the Vivo shop on Talbot Street. The male driver left the vehicle running and got out. An adult female and two nine year old boys remained inside the car.
“Two males walked past the car and one of the men opened the back door and pulled at one of the boys in the back. The boy was strapped in and the man ran off from the car. He is described as being in his mid 20s, around 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a white coloured tracksuit. The second male also ran off and he is described as being in his early 30s, of sticky build with a tattoo below his left ear and a shaved head. He was wearing a white t-shirt and black jacket.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an incident involving a Audi A4 car that mounted the pavement on the Mall in Newry on the 16th of February.
Constable Garry Young said: “Around 2.15am on Monday, 16 February, two female pedestrians were injured when a silver or grey Audi A4 car mounted the pavement at The Mall, Newry, and drove along it. A number of pedestrians were forced to jump out of the way and a 21 year old female sustained a minor head injury and a 27 year old female sustained an injury to her ankle.
“The Audi drove off with no lights on, going the wrong way up Kildare Street and heading on along Sandy’s Street and Stream Street at speed.
“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or observed this vehicle around the area during this time. We would also like to hear from anyone who has information which may assist our investigation. We can be contacted in Newry on 101, quoting ref: 88160115.”

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a road traffic collision at the Buttercrane Shopping Centre on Buttercrane Quay in Newry last Monday.
Constable McGaffin explained: “We received a report of a one vehicle collision, involving a blue Mercedes, at the shopping centre around 4.15pm on Monday, 2 March.
An 11 year old male pedestrian was injured during the collision and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
“During the incident a female passed her phone to a member of the public and did not retrieve it. The phone is a black Nokia Classic.
“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the whereabouts of the phone. We can be contacted in Ardmore on 101, quoting ref: 844020315.”

Police in Newry are investigating the report of an incident at Violet Hill Avenue on Thursday 26th February.
Constable Tim Coombs said, “It was reported to police that at around 7pm, two young girls were approached by two men who were travelling in a silver coloured BMW car and were given flowers by the men to give to their mother. The girls made off and reported the incident.”
Constable Coombs continued, “ We are keen to speak with the occupants of this vehicle or anyone who may have noticed a silver BMW being driven in the area at this time. Anyone with information should contact police in Ardmore on 101 quoting reference number 1014260215.

Annsville appeal
Police in Newry are appealing for information following the report of a burglary at a house in Annsville on the evening of Thursday 26th February.
Police received a report at around 8pm that three males had forced entry to the house by the back door. The males were disturbed by the occupant returning to the property and made off from the scene empty handed in a red coloured car in the direction of Ashgrove Road. A red Skoda bearing English registration plates, believed to have been the car involved in this incident, was recovered at Craigmore Road in Newry on Saturday 28th February. Nothing was reported to have been taken as a result of the burglary.
Investigating officer, Constable Tim Coombs, has appealed for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Annsville area or in Craigmore Road to contact police at Ardmore on 101 quoting reference number 979260215.
Fort Hill Road Theft
Police are also appealing for information following the report of theft and criminal damage at a construction site at a reservoir in the Fort Hill Road area of Newry.
It is believed that sometime between 1:30pm on Saturday 7th and 8:30am on Monday 9th February, thieves parked a vehicle on a road running behind the reservoir, broke into the site, and carried a quantity of power tools across fields.
Investigating officer, Constable Tom Ruddell, is appealing for anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity or who has any information to contact police at Ardmore on 101 quoting reference number 192090215.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary on Monday past at Cloghoge Heights, off the Dublin Road in Newry.
Constable Jonny Hart said: “Sometime between 4.30am and 5.45pm on Monday, 9 March, entry was forced to a house at Cloghoge Heights. A sum of cash was taken, as well as a gold, hexagonal female bracelet, a 50 inch Sharp television, an Azos laptop computer, a Panasonic laptop computer and a Snap On diagnostic computer.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in Carnage Park in Newry.
Constable Steven Lawson said: “Around 4pm on Tuesday, 3 March, we received a report of a burglary at house in Carnagh Park. A number of bedrooms were searched and a quantity of jewellery was taken. One of the pieces of jewellery was a gold ring with two emerald stones on either side of an amethyst.

Police in Newry have arrested two males after locating a stolen vehicle.
Police were on patrol in the Bessbrook area when they observed a green Landrover Defender being driven erratically along Millvale Road around 2.50am on Wednesday, 18 March. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested two males.
A 28 year old man was arrested for driving whilst unfit, taking a motor vehicle without authority, no driving licence and no insurance. A 18 year old male was arrested for allowing himself to be carried. Both men were later arrested on bail pending further enquiries.
The vehicle was confirmed as stolen.

Three people have been arrested by Police in Newry following incidents in Parkview Drive yesterday and today Thursday, 19th March.
Around 8.15pm yesterday evening March police received a report of two males making threats to kill the occupants of a house in Parkview Drive. Officers attended however the two males had left the area. At 10.20pm police received a report of windows being broken at the same house. Officers attended and two 19 year old males were arrested.
One of the males was charged with AOABH, assault on police, criminal damage, disorderly behaviour, harassment, possession of Class A drugs, resisting police, threats to damage property and threats to kill. He appeared before Banbridge Magistrates’ Court earlier today (19 March). The second 19 year old was released on bail pending further enquiries.
In a second incident police received a report of a female making threats to the occupants of a house in Parkview Drive on Thursday, 19 March. Officers arrested a 27 year old female for threats to kill. She is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
