Detectives in Newry are assisting An Garda Siochana following an armed robbery at a post office in Omeath.
Around 9am on Wednesday, 20 August, two men with a firearm in their possession, held up a cash delivery and made off with a case of cash. The men drove off in a blue Opel Corsa Combi van, registration 97-D-42356. This vehicle was later found burnt out in the Ferryhill Road area of Newry. The case of cash was also recovered at this location.
Detective Constable Sarah Lyttle made the following appeal: "We have made a number of enquiries and believe the men made off from the burnt vehicle in a white, high top, Transit van towards Cottage Road in Newry. We are assisting An Garda Siochana with their investigation and I would really like to hear from anyone who was in the Ferryhill Road/Cottage Road area, between 9am and 10am on Wednesday, 20 August, and noticed either of the two vehicles described above. We are available in Newry CID on the 101 non-emergency number."

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has taken the opportunity to remind everyone to stay safe on the roads this autumn with children now returned to school.
Constable Bill Holden, E District Road Safety Education Officer explains: “Like it or loathe it the new school term has started and everyone will notice an increase in traffic on our roads. Rush hour traffic can be frustrating but the key to getting to your destination safely is patience and paying attention to what’s happening around you.
“If your journey takes you past a school then be prepared for a build-up of traffic with parents dropping pupils off. Stay alert to large groups getting on and off buses, watch out for children who may unwittingly step out from between parked cars and slow down.
“Likewise parents should take this opportunity to speak to their children about how to safely cross the road. As a Road Safety Education Officer I am regularly in schools speaking to young people but it helps if these messages are being reinforced at home.
“Parents living in rural areas may find their children have a bit of a walk home once the bus leaves them off. As we move into the darker evenings it is vitally important that your child can be seen by other road users so invest in some reflective jackets and stickers and straps for school bags. Motorists also need to be more aware of pedestrians on rural roads and give them plenty of room when passing.”
Constable Holden adds: “Finally, remember the road is there for everyone to share so make it your own personal responsibility to do what you can to keep yourselves and others safe.”

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a burglary in Vimy Terrace.
Constable Middletown, Newry Response, outlined the details: "Some time between 3.30pm on Wednesday, 3 september and 8am on Sunday, 7 September, entry was gained to a house in Vimy Terrace. A number of rooms were entered and searched.
"I am asking anyone who has information in relation to this burglary to contact us in Ardmore on the 101 non-emergency number."

Police in Newry are appealing for information after a trailer was set on fire.
Constable Keith McComb, Newry Response, explained: "Some time between 11pm on Tuesday, 9 September and 9.45am on Wednesday, 10 September, an exhibition trailer at transport premises on Chancellor's Road was set alight. The trailer was completely burnt out.
"I am asking anyone who noticed any activity around the premises or has information in relation to this incident to contact us in Newry on the 101 number."

Police in Newry are appealing for information following two vehicles being set on fire in the Blackthorn Grange area in the early hours of Monday 13 October.
Just after 12.10am, police received the report of the fire. Two vehicles, a van and a car, were damaged as a result. At this time it is believed that these vehicles were deliberately set on fire.
Response Inspector Stephen Graham appealed for information. He said: "I would ask anyone with any information about this to contact us at Ardmore Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Newry City Sinn Féin councillor Valerie Harte condemned those behind the fires. Speaking about the incident Cllr Harte said “I was disgusted to learn about the burning of the vehicles in Blackthorn Grange. This area is a very quiet area and there are lots of children living in and around this area. Those who carried out this cowardly attack in the dead of night are not welcome within this community. I am thankful that the fire did not spread to nearby houses which could have been devastating.
Cllr Harte concluded “I urge anyone with any information in relation to incident to contact the police so that those anti community people can be caught and brought before the courts.”

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an assault in fast food premises on Monaghan Street.
Constable Philip Kelly, Newry Response, explained: "Around 2.30am on Monday, 6 October, a fight broke out in fast food premises and a 47 year old man was assaulted. A number of people were present at the time and I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an attempted burglary at a Newsagents in Monaghan Street on Sunday.
Constable Janine McAllister, Newry Response, explained: "Around 7.55pm on Sunday, 12 October, a man entered the back stairs of a newsagent shop on Monaghan Street and went into a store. He attempted to steal numerous packets of cigarettes however staff became aware of the man and tried to prevent him. The man made off from the shop empty handed.
"The thief is described as being around 5ft 7in tall, of stocky build with short, fair hair and a southern accent. He was wearing a purple shirt and a black jacket.
"I am asking anyone who has information in relation to this incident to contact us in Newry on the 101 number."

Police in Newry are investigating a suspected assault on a 2 year old girl in the Bessbrook area on the evening of Sunday, 19 October.
Superintendent Simon Walls said: "The child has been taken to hospital following this incident.
A man in his 20's has been arrested and is currently assisting police.
"Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of Charlemont Square East, Bessbrook around 7.45pm on Sunday, 19 October and who may have witnessed an altercation or seen any suspicious activity to contact Police on the non emergency number 101. Commenting on the incident SDLP Newry and Armagh MLA Dominic Bradley said: “This is a shocking and deeply disturbing incident. Violent crime, in all its forms, has no place in our society but the assault of a toddler is particularly appalling. “I know this strong community will rally round the young child’s family. My thoughts are with the child and I sincerely hope, as does the majority of people in this community, that she will make a full and speedy recovery.
“I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area last night to assist police in their investigations.”

A 22 year old man has been attacked and robbed close to Newry Swimming Pool on Clanrye Avenue in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police in Newry are appealing for information following the assault.
Constable Mark Douglas, Newry and Mourne Response, explained: "Around midnight between Saturday, 4 October and Sunday, 5 October, a 22 year old man was walking along Clanrye Avenue at the playing fields when three males came out of an alleyway, behind the swimming pool. The three males attacked the man and made off with a small sum of money.
"The victim sustained an injury to his head which required medical treatment.
"I am asking anyone who witnessed the assault or has information in relation to this incident to contact us at Ardmore Police Station on the 101 number."
