From 1 April Kilkeel Police Station will be open to allow members of the public to call into the station to seek advice and speak to police from:
10 am to 12pm on Monday, 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday and 12pm to 2pm on Saturday
This is a change from the current opening hours of; 9am to 11am on Monday, 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday and 12pm to 2pm on Saturday and is intended to be more user friendly.
Policing services remain available 24/7 and can be accessed by phoning 101 or 999 in an emergency.
The current limited opening hours in Warrenpoint will come to an end on the same date. Residents of Warrenpoint will be able to avail of the new opening hours in Kilkeel and Ardmore Police Station in Newry, which is open to the public from 8am to 8pm each day.
Our priority is to keep people safe and the wider community of South Down will be able to access policing services 24/7.
Our aim is to ensure that our service to communities in South Down is fit for purpose and sustainable.

Detectives are appealing for information following several burglaries in Newry on Monday 14th March, in The Glen, Daisy Hill Gardens and Fullerton Road.
Around 8.15pm on Monday, two males were disturbed at a house in The Glen. They had forced entry through a front window but fled from the rear of the house and made off on foot towards the Dublin Road. They are described as being under 18 years old and of slim build.
Detectives would like to hear from anyone who has information that may assist their investigation.
In Daisy Hill Gardens shortly before 3pm on Monday, two females called to a house. The female occupant opened the door and one of the females entered the house and went into the living room. This female took a purse and during a struggle, the occupant fell and sustained an injury to her elbow.
The two females made off in a cream or white coloured car. One of the females was wearing a red hat and black and white jumper.
Also on Monday between 7pm and 11.30pm entry was forced to the rear of a house in Maryville Park, Fullerton Road. The property was ransacked and jewellery was stolen.
Detectives would like to hear from anyone who witnessed these incidents or has information which may assist their investigations.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an incident of criminal damage to a car on the hard shoulder of the Warrenpoint dual carriageway.
On Friday, 18 March, a black Chevrolet GMC Captiva, was left parked on the hard shoulder of the Warrenpoint Road, just before Clady Quarry, after breaking down. Sometime between 1pm and midnight, the windows of the vehicle were smashed and damage caused to the panels.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the damage being caused or anyone who has information that may assist their investigation. They can be contacted on 101, quoting ref: 20 180316.

Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following the theft of a quantity of jewellery from Ashton Heights.
Around 9.40pm on Friday, 11 March, entry was gained to the rear of a house and a quantity of jewellery was stolen. The jewellery included watches, bracelets, rings, earrings, brooches and six 1972 Munich Summer Olympics commemorative coins. It is believed three males may have been involved in the burglary.

Police in Newry are appealing for information following three burglaries at Newry Leisure Centre and Whitegates.
At 2.10am on Wednesday, 23 March, police received a report of an alarm going off at a leisure centre on Clanrye Avenue. Entry had been gained to the building and a number of offices were broken into and searched.
Police received a reports of two further burglaries at units in Whitegates overnight. Entry was forced to two units. Cash and three charity boxes were taken from one and four pairs of GHD hair straighteners from another.
It is thought three males may have been involved.
Police are investigating a link between the three burglaries and are appealing to anyone who has information that may assist their investigation to contact them in Newry on 101, quoting ref: 66 230316.

A 27 year old man has been charged with Common Assault, Disorderly Behaviour and Criminal Damage following and incident in Daisy Hill Hospital when he struck out at a Doctor and Nurse attempting to treat him in the Accident and Emergency Department on Monday.
Sergeant Patrick Dougan of the PSNI, Reducing Offending Unit based in Newry stated: “Doctors, Nurses and Staff at our Hospitals are extremely busy dealing with a high volume of admissions to their A & E Departments, the last thing they need is a disruptive patient who has a total disregard for all, tying up valuable medical resources and causing additional distress to patients and families there for a medical emergency.
“Police ask that people think before they drink, act responsibly around alcohol and respect those that provide care in our Hospitals.”
The man is expected to appear before Newry Magistrates Court on Monday 25 April. As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Police in Newtownhamilton are investigating the report of the theft of six cattle from a farm at Carrickgallogly Road, Whitecross in Armagh on Wednesday 23rd March.
Three cows, a Charolais bull and two calves are believed to have been taken from the farm sometime between 5pm on Tuesday 22nd and 3.30pm on Wednesday 23rd March.

Detectives in Newry are investigating two burglaries in Newry on Saturday evening.
Entry was forced through a rear window into a house in the Johnston’s Terrace area sometime after 8.30pm Saturday and a sum of money stolen.
Entry was also gained via a rear door to a house in the Ballyholland Park area of Newry the same night between 6.30pm and 8.30pm and a number of items of jewellery stolen.
The PSNI are appealing to anyone who witnessed either burglary or anyone with any information that will assist with the investigations to contact Detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police in Newry have recovered a grey Mercedes CLA180 AMG Sport car stolen in Malahide last weekend.
The car fitted with false number plates was found on Monday around 6pm, after it failed to stop for police on Tandragee Road, Jerrettspass. Details of the car were shared with all patrols and the car was stung a short time later before driving on to the A1.
Police subsequently found the car abandoned on Barracric Road. It was reported that the male driver had made off across fields.
Police discovered that the car had false registration plates and, after liaison with their colleagues in An Garda Siochana, determined that the vehicle had been stolen during a creeper burglary in Malahide, Dublin on Friday, 25 March.
