Three men have been stabbed in an incident in Ardcarn Park, Newry early this morning, 31 December.
An altercation took place between around 5am between a number of men in the street. A man aged in his 40’s sustained a stab wound to his head and 2 men, aged in their 20’s, sustained stab wounds to their body.
All three were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
The police are appealing for information. Detective Constable Skillen is appealing for anyone who was in the area of Ardcarn Park, Nursery Drive or Springfarm Heights this morning and who witnessed an altercation or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives at Ardmore Police Station quoting reference number 201 of 31/12/16. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Following the incident Newry and Armagh MP, Mickey Brady has warned people of the dangers of knife crime and the use of knives on our streets.
“Three people are reported to have been admitted to hospital as a result of wounds received from a knife attack. Details of the incident are unclear and it is being investigated by Police. I appeal to anyone with information to contact the PSNI
"Those who use knives on our streets must realise the seriousness of their actions, this incident clearly shows what can go greatly wrong when people lift knives as weapons"

Police are appealing for information following two separate cattle thefts in the Belleeks area.
Sometime between 8pm on Monday 9 January and 8am on Tuesday 10 January, eleven black Limousin bulls were stolen from a cattle house in the Glenmore Road area.
Four Fresian cows, two Belgium Blue cows and a Charolais cow was stolen from an address in the Newtown Road area sometime between 6.30pm on Monday 9 January and 10am on Tuesday 10 January.
Police have asked anyone who knows anything about either of these incidents to contact Newtownhamilton Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 201 10/01/17. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The PSNI are appealing for witnesses and information following the report of a burglary at a residential premises in the Cloghareran Park area of Bessbrook.
Constable Andrew Davis said : “It was reported that between the hours of 3.30pm and 6.15pm on Monday 9th January, entry was gained to a residential premises via the kitchen window in the Cloghareran Park area of Bessbrook. The property was ransacked and a number of jewellery items were taken.
We are appealing to anyone that may have any information or to anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or to anyone that may have been offered similar items for sale in suspicious circumstances to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 881 on 09/01/17. Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Police in Newry, Mourne and Down are appealing for those who use park and ride facilities or similar communal parking areas to make sure all valuables are removed before leaving their vehicles.
Superintendent Paul Reid explains: “In recent weeks we have seen increased reports of thefts from vehicles at these parking facilities and while we are investigating those incidents and putting in place extra patrols we are also asking drivers to take some personal responsibility.
“Opportunistic criminals will go for the quick win so that means targeting the car that has a handbag or a tablet or even cash lying in plain view. Van drivers can be an easy target if thieves believe they can walk off with expensive tools so make sure you remove anything that is of value before leaving it for the day or overnight.
“We are also sharing this message on our social media pages so follow us on Facebook and make sure to share this crime prevention information with friends and family.”

Two properties were searched in Newry this morning and a 20 year old woman arrested by detectives investigating the attempted murder of Police Officer's in Belfast. The incident which happened in November 2015 saw shots fired at a police car parked at Rossnareen Avenue in the city . The two police officers in the car were not injured.
Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Boyce said: “Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch investigating the attempted murder of Police Officers at Rossnareen Avenue, Belfast on 26th November 2015 have this morning arrested a 20 year old woman in the Newry area. She has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning. In addition, two properties were searched during this morning’s operation.”

The PSNI in South Armagh are appealing for information following a suspected arson attack at a house in the O’ Fiaich Crescent area of Cullyhanna on Saturday 4th February.
It is thought the fire was started deliberately sometime between 4am and 4.30am on Saturday morning and the house was completely destroyed as a result.
Constable Nugent has appealed for anyone with any information which may be of assistance to police to contact officers at Newtownhamilton on 101.

Police are appealing for information following the report of a car on fire at Ballyvalley Road, Mayobridge in the early hours of Friday morning, 10 February.
It is thought the fire occurred around 2.25am.
A vehicle was extensively damaged and an adjacent house sustained damage to the windows, guttering and plasterwork.
There were four adults in the house at the time. No one sustained any injuries.

The PSNI are appealing for information following the report of a hit and run road traffic collision in the Green Road area of Bessbrook on Thursday 2nd February.
It was reported that a teenage girl was struck by a small, dark coloured car which had a female driver and a male front seat passenger at around 6.55pm near a local garage. The girl was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries following the collision.
Constable Douglas has appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information which could assist police with their enquiries to contact officers in Newtownhamilton on 101 quoting reference number 1125 02/02/17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police investigating the sudden death of a woman in her 30’s in Orior Park, Bessbrook on Tuesday of this week 21 February, have arrested and charged a 48 year old man.
The man has been charged with being concerned in the supply of a class A controlled drug and possession of a class B controlled drug. He is expected to appear before Newry Magistrates Court on Wednesday 22 March.
