Down have to dust themselves down after their Ulster Football Final defeat by Donegal.
They take on Tipperary this weekend after failing to take home the trophy at St Tiernachs Park in Clones yesterday.
The game burst into life in the final few minutes of the first half after a low scoring start and Donegal's Leo McLoone put the ball to the back of the net to leave them ahead by a point at half time. Donegal 1:5 Down 0:7
Donegal impressed most of the game and Down's prospects of a win just got further and further away as the second half progressed. Top scorer for Down was Liam Doyle with 0:4. The game ended. Donegal 2:18 Down 0: 13
A little bit of history was made in Belfast yesterday with Belfast City Hall showing a GAA game live for the first time ever in the grounds to the front of the building. Though it was a small crowd, it certainly was enjoyed by all present including a large group of Spanish students.

The attempt to break the world record for the longest distance ran by a relay team in 18 days is well underway at this stage at the running track at St Colmans.
The attempt started on Saturday at noon and will finish on the 8th August. As of 1:34 am this morning, the team had already completed 500,000m.
The Guinness World Record officially stands at 1930 miles set by the Gillette Phenomenal Tour in Bulgaria in 2009
In May of this year, Relay GB completed 2680 miles around mainland Britain - this distance has yet to be officially recognised by Guinness World Records.
The runners in Newry are aiming to run 3000 miles (12071 laps) around the St Colman’s Athletics Track.
Each runner, carrying a baton, is required to run a 10-minute mile and continuously for a minimum of 30 minutes.
At the end of each runner’s session, the baton is passed to the next runner.

St Johns Bosco Gaels - are planning a GAA football camp for adults with learning difficulties from 27th-30th August
The camp will run between 10:00 a.m. -12:00 noon in St Patricks Primary School. Cormac Venny from the Down GAA Board with St John Bosco mentors Paul McCormack, Maria Fox, Mo Rooney and several of the senior boys and junior girls are mentors for the camp.
Registration for the camp will take place in the St John Bosco clubrooms on Water Street on Sunday 26th August.
U12 Girls
St John Bosco U12 Girls vs Burren Saturday 28th July
The U12 girls earned a hard fought victory against Burren on Saturday to remain top of their section. A squad of 24 players made the trip together with a large number of parents and the team produced an excellent 1st half of passing football. Key to this was Nicola Downey who exploited gaps in the Burren defence and scored three goals and two points. Aime O’Hanlon and Aine McCabe also added additional points before Aoibheann Quinn finished an excellent move with a goal on half time. In response Burren scored 1 :02.
The 2nd half began with the introduction of six subs for the Bosco and slowly Burren began to dominate possession of the ball in key areas. Eden Casey and Sarah O Hanlon in the full back line came under intense pressure as Bosco struggled to clear their lines but Burren were wasteful and this dominant period generated only a further 1: 02. Bosco finished the stronger team with good performances from Rachel Hanna, despite injury, and also new player Emily Rice. Sinead Quinn scored a great goal following good work by Kerry Lavery and Orlagh Burke added a further point.

St John Bosco U12 Girls Tournament

Plans are now at an advanced stage for the annual Bosco U12 Girls tournament to be held in Jack Mackin Park on Saturday 25th August 2012. This year 8 teams will compete in two competitions and teams already confirmed to attend are Warrenpoint, Burren, Rostrevor and Saval. The Bosco will field two teams. This event, now in its fourth year, has been a great success and is now recognised as one of the best tournaments for girls in County Down.
U10s
The U10s had a home game this week against John Martin Glenn.
St John Bosco mentors Kevin Hughes, David McNulty and Paul McCormack with Glen mentors Phil McLaughlin and Michael held series of mixed training sessions focussing on developing key skills for an hour prior to the game.
Following the training session the two teams fielded 15 a side with 3 Bosco players Joshua Madigan, Jack White and Ciaran McAlinden on ‘loan’ to Glenn and treated the large number of parents and spectators to a wonderful display of football. Playing against the wind in the first half Pól Óg McCormack opened the scoring for Bosco with a great goal following some fine interchange passing with Jack and Rurai O’Hare. Glenn came straight back after conceding this goal and it wasn’t long before the sides were level. David McCreesh pulled of some fine saves in the Bosco net and his long kick outs were the launch pad for many Bosco attacks.
In the second period of play Matthew Monore was switched into half forward and this move paid immediate dividends when he pointed from out on the left. Ronan McLaughlin kept Glenn in touch with a brace of long distance points. Whilst the umbrellas came out on the sidelines when the rain started pelting down in the final 15 minutes the players on both teams were oblivious to this and even upped their game. Deep into injury time Glenn secured a draw when loan player Joshua Madigan pointed from 30 yds out.
St John Bosco Kellogs Cúl Camp
The Kellogs Cúl Camp 6th – 10th August is being held again this year in St Patrick’s Primary School.
Costs are £35 for players over 6 years old and £25 for players aged between 4 and 6 years old.
In order to assist families meet the costs and to ensure all can attend St John Bosco are subsidising the costs for second and subsequent members of families registering for the Cúl Camp by £5 per member.
For players aged between 6 and 13 years from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and the nursery camp for players aged between 4 and 6 years old from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Registration for the camp will take place on Sunday 5th August between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon during the Sunday morning training sessions in St Colman’s College.

Down have drawn Mayo in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-finals after they made history in Mullingar on Saturday.
James McCartan's Mournemen became the first losing provincial finalists to beat the dreaded six-day turnaround when they outclassed Tipperary.
Driven on by a goal from Benny Coulter, Down put the disappointment of that 11-point loss to Donegal in the Ulster final behind them with a morale-boosting dispaly against their in-form rivals and go into Saturday's showdown with Connacht champions Mayo in Croke Park (5pm) with confidence restored.
Speaking after the win over Peter Creedon's Tipp, McCartan said he was delighted with the resolve shown by his players.
“Everybody was tipping this for the upset of the weekend," said the Burren man.
"We were determined it wasn’t going to be the case. It wasn’t pretty at times we know, but we said coming into this game that it was going to be about character and a wee bit of mental strength.
“Playing well [against Tipperary] wasn’t really part of the equation – it was putting your heart on your sleeve and putting pride in the jersey because obviously we shipped a lot of criticism last week and we felt for three-quarters of the game [against Donegal] we did a whole lot right.
“The guys get no credit for three-quarters of the match – it’s the last quarter of the match that everybody remembers, and rightly so."
Meanwhile, Mayobridge star Coulter is rapidly regained full fitness and got 70 vital minutes under his belt last Saturday.
“I feel great," he said after the win over Tipperary.
"Thankfully James kept me on; it will bring me on and I’ll be ready next week [against Mayo].”

A busy spell for Corrinshego with their Festival in July proving a major hit. Proceedings got underway to a packed house at the Marquee with 'Its A Knockout' an amateur boxing tournament in association with Cuan Mhuire Sacred Heart Boxing Club. A fantastic night with 14 bouts in total with boxers from all over Ireland in action. Special Guest Tyson Fury, Irish Heavy Weight Champion was in attendance to support the young amateur boxers.
The folowing night Hypnotist Adrian Knight was the headline act in the Marquee with a fantastic nights entertainment with some truly unbelievable stunts & tricks. The weekend finished with a family fun day with plenty of competition, kick fada, penalty shootout, bouncy castles & pony rides.
Kelloggs Cul Camp
The past week has seen great excitement as Corrinshego held its first ever Cul Camp. With over 30 children participating with Armagh County footballers Ryan Rafferty, Paul Carville and Rory Grugan demonstrating their skills. Each day was packed with various games and activities culminating in each child receiving a full Kelloggs Cul camp kit. Roll on next year!!
Under 16 Football
Cor Fhuinseoige 1-08 Middletown 2-09
Corrinshego Under 16’s suffered their first defeat of the season at the semi-final stage of the championship last Thursday night at Granemore against Middletown. A very depleted side took the field due to Holidays, Hurling and Gaeltacht commitments forcing us to play 11 a side which eventually took its toll on the players on the big pitch. Middletown started with a free but we immediately responded with a 40 yard score from Conor Rice quickly followed by a Caolan Marron point also from play. Middletown quickly replied with a well worked goal but from then on in we completely dominated the game. Conor Loye at midfield was in unstoppable form with superb high fielding putting great ball into our forward line. The same player finished a move to the net to put us clear and further points from Brian Hobden and Conor Rice had us 1-06 to 1-01 ahead with 2 minutes left in the half. But again a soft free reduced the deficit and then a killer blow of a goal left the minimum between the sides 1-06 to 2-02.
On the re-start Middletown got a point to bring it level, Declan Loye had us ahead again with a score from play. It was end to end stuff but yet again Middletown seemed to get the breaks to bring it level from a free and go ahead with a point. Conor Rice brought us level again from a free from about 45 yards, a massive kick that just scraped the top of the crossbar, a great morale booster but we couldn’t build on it as Middletown edged ahead with 2 points. We had to go for goal as time was closing in but one effort was blocked and the next, we were penalised for over-carrying the ball which Middletown counterattacked to put them 3 ahead and end the game as a contest. A very disappointed team in the end but we now need to re-group to focus on our league. Best to luck to Middletown in the final. Go n-éirí go geal libh.

THERE won’t be many with less reason to cheer on Down on Saturday evening than Billy-Joe Padden. After all, he’s a Mayo native who plays for Armagh.
True to form, the Belmullet man who lined out for the westerners for a decade before moving to Camlough and throwing his lot in with his adopted Orchard county in 2010 will be rooting for his former team-mate James Horan’s team on Sunday.
Having played against Down in the League this year, he’s objective enough to know that James McCartan’s side have the beating of Mayo, if things go well for them, but he’s giving the Connacht champions the nod at Croke Park.
“I think Mayo are probably slightly the stronger team,” he said.
“They’re coming in from the cold because they haven’t played in a couple of weeks but they should be the team with more confidence – they had a pretty good Championship run last year and this year they’ve beaten what’s been put in front of them, maybe not much, but they still got the job done.
“I think Down will still be a bit sore after the Ulster final because they probably went in thinking they had a good chance and in the end they were well beaten. In saying that, Donegal are probably the best team in Ulster by quite a bit.”

Down manager James McCartan is pondering his future after his side were taken to the cleaners by Mayo at Croke Park in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter-finals on Saturday.
The Mournemen battled throughout the first half but were unable to cope with the pace and movement of a well-drilled Mayo side and in the end they lost by 12 points.
“It’s not a decision for now, but today is certainly a hard pill to swallow," said double All-Ireland winner McCartan after the defeat.
"All I’ll say is that I have a group of players who have given me their all for three years. We had some good days on the road, we had some bad days on the road.
“They have given their best and we tried to give them the format to go out and perform on the big stages, and we’ve come up short. But it certainly hasn’t been for lacking of trying on the players’ behalf.
“They certainly have my thanks ringing in their ears for the past three years.”

With just over 24 hours left to run for the Guinness World Record Relay Race attempt at St Colman's pitch it's time to get down to cheer them on if you haven't already.
Over the course of the last 17 days the runners have clocked up well over 3000 miles and the festival atmosphere has seen many sing songs and craic to pass the hours away. Yesterday up and coming band The Nooks performed trackside and blew away the appreciative audience with everything from Hillbilly to Hip-Hop and then some.
The marathon attempt would not have been possible without all the hard work and time dedicated by Jacqueline Galway and the team of organisers not to mention all the supporters who turned up day and night.
It all ends tomorrow afternoon Wednesday 8th of August at 12pm, congratulations to all and lets hope it's not long before the Guinness World Record win is acknowledged.

In a specially convened meeting on Sunday past, hundreds of members heard from St Bronagh’s GAA about their ambition to develop a Centre of Excellence at Drumsesk, Rostrevor at an estimated cost of £1m.
Club members and officials, local councillors and local residents gathered to hear more about the future development of the Club as St Bronagh’s moves forward with a purchase agreement for 12 and a quarter acres of land at Drumsesk.
This would provide:
2 full size Gaelic pitches, both with flood lighting,
An indoor training pitch
A walking track
A state of the art building with 4 changing rooms
Offices/meeting/conference facilities
A commercial gym and fitness centre
The ambitious development plan is part of an overall strategy entitled Vision 2019 which focuses on greater engagement with members and the local community; long term sustainability; creation of state of the art playing facilities; and attainment of Club Maith status.
Club Chairman Malachy McCourt said: “Some months ago a finance committee were formed to carry out a strategic review of the Club finances and potential for future growth and then the opportunity to purchase lands at Drumsesk arose. The overwhelming view from the Committee and Senior playing members was to pursue an ambitious acquisition and development project at Drumsesk and create a Centre of Excellence for the benefit of our young gaels and the wider community, to coincide with our 100 year celebrations in 2019.
“The meeting was to provide a transparent view to members and the local community about those future development plans and our finances as well as to demonstrate what could be achieved at Drumsesk with their support. By our centenary year, we aspire to become one of the leading Club’s in Down with a 21st Century Sports facility.”
Attendees heard from Finance Committee members and saw a special video presentation which illustrated the potential development at Drumsesk.
Club Chairman Malachy McCourt also outlined how the Club intended to engage with other community groups in the coming weeks to ask for their input in the development of Drumsesk as a major community resource.
The evening also acted as a launch platform for a revised Friends of Rostrevor scheme – a fundraising initiative which will act solely to support the Drumsesk Project.
Concluding Chairman Malachy McCourt said: “We’ve had very good feedback from members and I am confident that with the will of the people and the commitment of all who care about St Bronagh’s GAA, Vision 2019 will deliver a landmark development for our local community. We are calling on the local community to offer assistance by joining the Friends of Rostrevor scheme which has a number of entry levels.
“If you can’t give financial aid we would love you to come forward and donate an hour or two of your time a week. There are a range of groups and committees that could use more support from IT and PR to youth mentoring and parents committees. If we move forward in a unified way, we can create a lasting legacy for St Bronagh’s GAA, Rostrevor.”
