The Keep on Running (Ireland and UK) team have officially become the Guinness World Record holders for "The greatest distance run by relay team".
The record was confirmed by the Guinness World Record team on the 26th of September.

The previous official record was held by the Gillette Phenomenal Tour in Romania in 2009 when over 14 days the team ran 1923 miles.
The Newry team didn't just smash the record but left it behind by over 1500 miles achieving 3504.28 miles over 18 days from the 21st of July to the 8th of August at the St Colman's all weather running track.
Massive congratulations to all who organised, took part and supported this record book entry especially local photographer Jacqueline Galway.
All that's left now is to party and the official Keep on Running Party will take place on the 17th of November and here at newry.info we are sure the celebrations will keep on running and running and running...
Craobh Rua Camlocha 0-16 Derrynoose 1-14
Craobh Rua Camlocha suffered a heart breaking one point defeat in their Armagh Junior Championship Final replay against Derrynoose last Saturday, the winning score coming in the very last poc of the game. despite trailing by a four point margin at half time 1-9 to 0-8, the Camloch side dictated most of the play in the second half and can consider themselves extremely unlucky to have lost the game.
There was bitter disappointment for this relatively young team of hurlers who went into this final as outsiders, but when they reflect on it as a team they can be all very proud of their performances and no doubt the experience gained for many will be of benifit. Craobh Rua congratulate Derrynoose
There was a charity sporting "spectacle" last Saturday evening in the Shane O Neills Club Camloch when over 35 teams from Carrickcruppen and Shane O Neills played each other to raise funds for the Ryan Cinnamond Trust.
A host of names from yester year entertained those present to a passionate if at times slow paced game. Owen Reel ably refereed the game, keeping a tight reign on some. Organiser Barry Sloan thanked the referee, all who played, made refreshments, raised funds or helped in anyway. Mayor John Mc Ardle was there to witness the game and his presence was deeply appreciated.
Newry and Armagh MP Conor Murphy donned a jersey for the worthy cause, whilst Councillor Pat Mc Ginn stayed safe and did "water boy".
John Courtney and Mickey Lynch renewed their management partnership fuelling speculation that they may make a return.
All in all a great evenings sport and fun to raise monies for a young man Ryan Cinnamond's Trust, whose courage and focus is an inspiration to all.
Under 16 Football
Tullach Sarain 0-02 Cor Fhuinseoige 2-10
Our U16’s bounced back from the defeat to Middletown with a comprehensive win away at Tullysaran last Saturday afternoon. This was a crucial game as victory here ensured our place in the League playoff final. Early scores from Conor Rice and Lee Courtney settled us down well but in the same period we rattled 2 shots off the Tullysaran crossbar but further scores from Declan Loye and Matthew Loughran had us firmly in the driving seat 1-04 to no score at half time.
On the resumption the home side now playing down the hill pushed hard for scores and were rewarded with 2 good scores from play. The halftime introduction of Caolan Marron proved to be a catalyst up front as he continually tested the home sides defence with great running, hitting 2 points from play and setting up Conor Loye for our second goal which sealed the victory. Great defensive displays from Aaron Cinnamond and Breandain McCorry kept their opponents scoreless and at Midfield Ryan Courtney was superb in his distribution and defensive work to ensure we made it through to the League final playoff.

WEEKLY MATCH REPORTS 17th September
An Port Mor v CORRINSHEGO 0-05 v 3-09 Thomas Davis win league title!
The final league game of the season brought what it deserved for Corrinshego under 14s, an All County League Title.
The game saw two red cards, both in the second period, but this was not a dirty game. It was however a physical game and whereas previously the U14s may have struggled to match bigger and taller teams, this was not one of those rare occasions.
The manner in which the team played football, especially in the first period, was the foundation from which Corrinshego were able to win this league title. The first half only yielded one goal for Corrinshego and it was needed, for their point taking was a little wayward to begin with, until scores from Conor Jennings and Ryan Gray settled the nerves. These were swiftly followed by points from Adam Loughran and a fine score from Shane Keenan, who ran two thirds of the pitch to split the posts.
Midfielder Caolan Marron took his time finding his scoring boots before finally adding two points before the referee blew the whistle for half time with Corrinshego in front 1-6 to 0-1.

Middletown 1-10 Cor Fhuinseoige 1-08
The second half started with the opposition scoring a brace of points, but it wasn’t long before forward Ryan Gray hit back with a goal and a point. The An Port Mor team had to push forward and cranked up the pressure with high balls into the box, but again and again Captain fantastic Declan Loye caught ball after ball to the roar from the crowd. This enabled the team to break up the field and punish the opposition with Adam Loughran adding a point and Ryan Gray, rippling the net with the killer final blow.
The team lost the point scoring of midfield player Caolan Marron, but it did not affect the final outcome in a game dominated by Corrinshego and in particular man of the match, Captain, Declan Loye.
Well Done Boys and an All County League title once again!!!
Team were as follows: Kyle Mooney, Karl Treanor, TJ Hughes, Caolan Marron, Matthew Taggart, Conor Jennings, Liam McKeown, Cailum Kilcoyne, Declan Loye, Niall McShane, Adam Loughran, Ryan Gray, Oran Walsh, Conor Mallon, Dean Falloon & Shane Keenan.
Corrinshego under 16’s suffered their first league defeat away to Middletown last Thursday night on the scoreline 1-10 to 1- 08. There was a never a kick of the ball between these sides throughout the game and it seemed like we were heading for a draw but 2 very soft frees in the dying minutes proved to be the difference. Middletown played the first half with a very strong breeze and immediately hit a point from play but our lads really worked hard keeping possession and worked themselves into great scoring positions where Conor Rice was on top form hitting 5 from frees and 1 from play to bring us in at halftime only 1 point in arrears 0-07 to 0-06.
On the restart we immediately hit the equaliser but both sides were really up for it playing great attacking football and on the night both defences were on top with Dean Faloon, Breandain McCorry, Lee Courtney and Aaron Cinnamond all excellent winning their personal battles but Middletown hit a real poachers goal to put us on the back foot. We were pushing hard for scores and a great block by corner forward Declan Loye turned the game on its head, by winning possession of the ball only to be fouled on the edge of the square. Young Declan then buried the subsequent free to the corner of the net. On the very next attack, Ryan Courtney hit a 50 yard point to put us ahead for the first time with 5 minutes left to play. But it was shortlived as soft frees handed the game to the home side and our first league defeat this year.

THE player of the match in Armagh Ladies' All-Ireland intermediate title win over Waterford said she was "in shock" after Sunday triumph at Croke Park.
The Orchard women won their second All-Ireland title with a deserved win at Croke Park and Laura Brown was outstanding as the lynchpin of the defence.
“This is brilliant, I’m in shock. We knew ahead of the game that they had two big forwards and that we had to stand up and be counted and we did. This is unreal," said the Clann Eireann full-back.
Team manager James Daly was full of praise for his side.
“We might have missed a lot of scores out there, but we were dominant. I told the girls at
half-time to just keep shooting,” said the Dromintee man.
“Our defence was rock solid, we have a lot of unsung heroes and we deserved this All-Ireland”,
Daly’s young side stood up to a more experienced Decies outfit and were good value for their seven-point victory.
It was Waterford who opened the scoring when Michele McGrath pointed with their first attack.
Armagh then kicked five wides before Shauna O’Hagan found the net in the eighth minute. The Clann Eireann forward reacted quickest to a ball which came off the post to slot home past Aimee Jordan.
Fionnuala McKenna and Marion McGuinness then added further points before Hannah Landers found the net for Waterford in the 20th minute. This, however, was to be Waterford’s last score of the half while Armagh went on to add three additional points. Scores from Kelly Mallon, Mags McAlinden and Shauna O’Hagan helped the Orchard girls to a 1-5 to 1-1 interval lead.
Waterford’s Linda Wall pointed with the first attack of the second half, but that score was quickly cancelled as Kelly Mallon fired over shortly after.
Fionnuala McKenna, Caroline O’Hanlon and Niamh Henderson then added points to extend the Orchard lead even further. Michelle Ryan pulled one back for the Munster champions, but once again Armagh responded, this time captain McAlinden obliging.
Waterford then had a let-off as Shauna O’Hagan’s rasper came back of the crossbar. Further points were exchanged by Ryan and O’Hanlon, but Armagh still had the upperhand.
Waterford refused to lie down and added another point through Linda Wall. With 10 minutes to go and six points down, they were thrown a lifeline of a penalty.
Michelle Ryan kicked poorly and Catherine McAlinden got her foot too it to prevent the goal. The Orchard keeper was called into action a couple of minutes later as she pulled off another great save.
In the dying seconds, Armagh were awarded another free and it was fitting that the brilliant Caroline O’Hanlon fired over to seal victory and secure senior football for a very talented Orchard side.

Corrinshego win Armagh All County Under 16 league Cor Fhuinseoige 0-09 Middletown 2-02
Corrinshego produced their best football of this year’s league campaign in the U16 playoff final to overcome a gallant Middletown side last Saturday afternoon in Granemore to lift the league title for the second year in succession. There were great scenes of celebration from player’s management and supporters as the final whistle sounded. A great
entertaining game of football where both sides exhibited all the skills in a enthralling game that went down to the last kick of the game. Middletown settled very early with a point from a free, we replied with a point from Caolan Marron only to be rocked by a Middletown goal. Our lads replied immediately opening up the Middletown defence for Ryan Courtney to hit a point from play. We kept the pressure on as Jordan Mackey reduced the deficit to one after great approach work by Conor Loye but just as we got back into the game Middletown hit us with another goal after the ball hit the post and landed in our square to be bundled into the net. Both sides exchanged points to leave it 2-02 to 0-04 in Middletown’s favour at halftime.
On the restart our Midfield duo of Ryan Courtney and Conor Loye began to get the better of the exchanges winning primary possession to allow our forwards some great quality ball. The move of Lee Courtney to full forward was rewarded with a point and slowly we began to reduce the deficit, a point from Conor Loye left 2 between the sides. At this stage we were dominating the play and when Jordan Mackey hit his second on the day it left one between the sides. This got the opposition moving but great defensive play from Aaron Cinnamond kept the pressure on Middletown and with time almost up a great defensive block from Breandain McCorry turned the game as it allowed Conor Loye space to hit the equaliser. The referee signalled for 2 minutes injury time as both sides battled for midfield possession but once again Ryan Courtney was immense coming out with the ball linking up with Declan Loye who was in turn fouled and with time almost up Ryan Courtney clipped it over the bar to put us ahead for the first time in the contest and shortly afterwards the ref called time. An unbelievable finish to any game but to win the league title with the last kick of the game was something special. It was heartbreak for Middletown to lose it in such fashion but our lads were really up for it keeping the opposition scoreless in the second half to claim the title with the narrowest of margins.
Corrinshego add All County Under 14 Shield Title. Cor Fhuinseoige 4-06 Felim Mac Bradaigh 0-07
Hughes giving a man of the match performance. Through their stern defence the team were able to break quickly and punish the opposition. Caolan Marron eventually got the second goal of the game, after good work from Shane Keenan, who worked tirelessly in the second half. And wing forward
Conor Jennings eventually rose to the occasion in the second
half, scoring and setting up two scores, before he was replaced with ten minutes to go.
Well before the referee blew the whistle for full time with Corrinshego comfortably in front, it was pleasing to see the entire panel get on the field of play, culminating in a well taken point by substitute Karl Treanor.
This was another success for this bunch of boys who will look forward to even more success in the future with Corrinshego.
The final game of the season brought a second trophy for Corrinshego under 14s, an All County Shield, after last week’s league title.
The game was a physical one to begin with as the Phelim Brady U14s were a much bigger and taller team and this made for a poor first half of football, with Corrinshego kicking a total of 8 wides. Indeed it was a tight affair in the first half, until captain Declan Loye scored a vital goal just before the half time whistle to leave Thomas Davis ahead by those three points at the break.
The manner in which the team played football in the second half however was the main reason why Corrinshego were able to win this trophy. The defence stood firm under the high ball, with TJ

Four points from the impressive Paul Devlin fired Kilcoo to an unexpected three-point win over Mayobridge in yesterday's Morgan Milk Down Senior Football Championship final at Pairc Esler.
Kilcoo dominated the game for long periods and were full value for their win, but they had to withstand some late pressure to win 2-8 to 1-8 and regain the Down Club Championship.
They got off to a great start when Down start Conor Laverty pounced for a goal in the first minute after a defensive mix-up between full-back Kevin McClorey and keeper Shealan Strain presented him with an easy tap-in.
Devlin added to the Kilcoo total with four scores, three of them from frees, and Niall McEvoy surged forward for his side's fifth point before the interval when they led 1-5 to 0-5.
Kilcoo's second goal came 10 minutes into the second half when McEvoy's long ball was claimed by McGreevy who palmed into the net and they led 2-9 to 0-6 when a goal from substitute Mayobridge's Kevin O'Rourke revived their hopes.
They battled until the last whistle, but Jim McCorry's side deserved the win and now face Monaghan champions Ballybay in the AIB Ulster Club Senior Football Championship quarter-final on Sunday, 4 November at Clones.
"We won this three years ago and have worked hard to get it back," said Kilcoo's Conor Laverty.
"It is great for the club and the parish. Football is everyting to us in Kilcoo and we are delighted to get the win."
