Detectives are investigating the report of an aggravated burglary at a house in Wakefield Terrace, Bessbrook on Saturday 28 April which saw three occupants of the house assaulted.
Police received a report that between 1:30am & 1:45am on Saturday morning, two masked men, one armed with a hammer and one with a chain, had forced their way into the house and assaulted 3 male occupants before making off. The occupants sustained cuts and bruising as a result of the incident. The first intruder was around 5’6” tall, wore grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark coloured hooded top, with a scarf covering his face. The second was around 5’10” tall, wore dark coloured bottoms, a black hooded top and also had a scarf covering his face.
Detective Sergeant Niall Bell has appealed to anyone who noticed anyone matching these descriptions in the area, or who has any information which could assist police with their enquiries, to contact detectives at Ardmore on 101 quoting reference number 164 28/04/18.

The PSNI are appealing for information following a serious assault on a man near Cloughreagh Community Centre, Bessbrook on Monday of this week, 28 May.
Constable Finucane said “At approximately 10:15 pm the man was making his way home and was attacked close to the Cloughreagh Community Centre by two males who were driving a Dark Coloured VW Jetta. The man lost a tooth and required medical attention as a result of this. This was an attack on a vulnerable adult and we would like the public’s assistance in bring the perpetrators to justice."

The PSNI are looking for witnesses following a burglary of commercial premises on the Dublin Road in Cloghoge, Newry during the early hour of yesterday morning, Wednesday 04 July, where the intruders were disturbed by the police, leaving empty handed.
It was reported that entry was forced to the premises at around 12.20am by three males. The males attempted to gain entry to an ATM machine within the premises. Shortly after 3am the intruders were disturbed by police activity in the area and fled the scene empty handed.
Detective Sergeant James Johnston is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or any vehicles in the area at the time to contact Detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 241 04/07/18.

Detectives at Ardmore PSNI station are appealing for information after an alleged firearms incident in Newry in the early hours of Sunday, 01 July.
Reports were made that a firearm was discharged at 1am in the Chequer Court area of Newry,

Detectives are investigating the death of a man in the Carrivekeeney Road area of Newry earlier today, Thursday 26th July.
The death is being treated as murder by police.
A 27 year old man has been arrested, and is currently in custody assisting with police enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Eamon Corrigan has appealed to anyone with any information which could assist detectives with their enquiries to contact them in Newry on 101.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses after vehicles were sprayed with paint in Rostrevor over the weekend.
Sergeant Steven Lawson said: "We received a report at approximately 10:10pm on Saturday, 28 July that a car parked in the Kilbroney Court area had been sprayed with orange paint on the driver's side. It is believed this occurred between 9:55pm and 10:10pm.
"At the same time, it was reported a number of other vehicles in the vicinity had also been sprayed with orange-coloured paint.
“We now know a total of 17 vehicles were damaged.
"Our enquiries are continuing and we are working to establish a motive for the attacks.
"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around this time on Saturday night and witnessed any suspicious activity , or any drivers who were in the area around this time and have a dash cam fitted in their vehicles to check their footage. Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Ardmore on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1487 of 28/07/18.

A 50 year old man has been arrested by police in the Hilltown area this morning on suspicion of theft, going equipped for theft and fraud by false representation.
Sergeant Paul Murphy said: “We received a report of a van with a southern registration being driven in the Hilltown area earlier this morning. Officers attended and spoke to the driver who purported to be from a charity involved in recycling clothes. A number of police checks were carried out and the man was subsequently arrested and taken into custody where he remains assisting officers with their enquiries.”

The PSNI have appealed for the public to report anti-social behaviour hapening in their area following a number of incidents of criminal damage in the Mayobridge and Warrenpoint areas at the weekend.
Constable Anthony McCartan said: “Police received two reports of criminal damage and one report of anti-social behaviour on Sunday, 5th August.
“The incidents included eggs, milk and flour being thrown at two cars in the Rath Road area of Warrenpoint sometime between 1:05am and 1:25am on Sunday morning. We received a further two reports of eggs thrown at a house and vehicle in the Clonafleece Road area of Mayobridge. Damage to a door was reported. It's believed this occurred sometime between midnight and 9:30am on Sunday.
"We received a further report of eggs being thrown at a house and a vehicle in the Mayo Road areas of Mayobridge. It's believed this occurred sometime between midnight and 5:30am on Sunday.
“I fully understand the effect anti-social behaviour can have on communities. What might seem like fun to those involved, can be distressing to the people whose property is targeted.
"Police are here to listen to all community concerns and to work with local residents and partner agencies to find a solution to any issues. I would encourage the public to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour to police at the earliest opportunity in a bid to help us prevent and detect crime"

A 42 year old man has been charged with burglary with intent to steal and three counts of conspiracy to commit burglary with intent to steal following a burglary at Cullyhanna in July.
The charges are in connection with a burglary at a filling station in Cullyhanna on Monday 9th July 2018 and conspiracy to burgle three other rural business locations.
Five men have already appeared in court on Saturday 4th August charged with a number of offences following a burglary in the Irvinestown area on Thursday 2nd August.
Detective Sergeant James Johnston said “Police continue to investigate a series of burglaries at rural business locations, primarily filling stations, throughout Northern Ireland, at which ATMs have been forced open. We suspect that a gang was involved in scouting these locations in the days before the burglary occurs. Whilst there have been recent successes against suspected members of this gang and persons remanded we would ask shop owners remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or vehicles seen around their premises during the day.
We would appeal for any member of the public with information on such incidents to contact the Detectives based in the CID at Ardmore, Newry PSNI Station, telephone 101 extension 35378 or 60025.”
