Irish Ghost Stories and tales of terror

Irish ghost stories and tales of terror come to Newry City Library for Book Week NI

Newry City Library will welcome international storyteller and bestselling author Steve Lally on Thursday 22 October at 6.30pm for a special evening of Irish ghost stories and tales of terror.

The event, part of Book Week NI 2026, will explore the darker side of Irish folklore through a selection of haunting tales, eerie encounters and stories inspired by Ireland's rich storytelling traditions.

Drawing on myths and legends that have fascinated generations, Steve will bring strange happenings, mysterious characters and spine-tingling stories to life through his distinctive storytelling style.

The event is part of Book Week NI, a joint initiative between Libraries NI and BBC Northern Ireland, running from 19–25 October.

Throughout the week, libraries across Northern Ireland are bringing readers and writers together through author conversations, creative workshops, storytelling and other activities celebrating books and reading.

Booking is essential. To reserve a place, contact Newry City Library on 028 3026 4683 or email newrycity.library@librariesni.org.uk.
